The joy of seeing Videodrome on VHS in the 80’s, David Cronenberg’s climax of body horror and politics that begins with the triumvirate of Shivers, Rabid, and The Brood, leading to Scanners and onto the “long live the new flesh” explosion of Videodrome.
For me The Fly was a more traditional, it embodies Cronenberg’s body horror but loses the body politics somewhat. But that’s not to say The Fly isn’t great. For me Videodrome, The Dead Zone, and The Fly are his most essential work.
