I was never a big disco fan, growing up with punk, but “I Feel Love” had an amazingly heavy bass line and I’m sorry to hear Donna Summer has died so young.

RIP Jean Girard
After the excitement of reading 2000AD and Action as a kid in the 70′s I lived in Germany for a couple of years, and would devour issues of Heavy Metal magazine whenever I could find them and afford them. Heavy Metal introduced me to Stefano Tamburini and Tanino Liberatore (Ranxerox), Corben, Milo Minara, and Jean Girard aka Moebius.
I loved Moebius’ clean but finely detailed comics, and he was one of a few artists I made the effort to seek out at at a comic book signing in the 80′s. I didn’t speak French and so his wife translated my request for a picture of the Horny Goof which was still a problem for U.K publishers reprinting his work, but a bizarre strip that made a huge impression on me as a thirteen year old kid – no puns intended! Sad to hear he passed away today.

“Former Weezer band member turned artist Mikey Welsh’s death Saturday at the age of 40 was a shock to many fans. But People magazine reports the bassist eerily tweeted the time and place of his death two weeks prior.”
I’m not an Apple user. I use an Android phone, work on a Windows PC and Lenovo laptop, and read books on a Kindle. But I think they are all immeasurably better because of Steve Jobs and Apple. A sad day.
